Installation

We initially provided a heavy-duty gantry to accommodate the welfare facilities on the Great Ormond Street Hospital project. We went on to provide the scaffolding package in addition to supplying the project with a number of passenger/goods hoists as well as a number of mast climbers.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is one of the top five paediatric hospitals in the world according to an article on Health Care Global.

We were honoured to be able to work on a couple of its buildings during its major redevelopment process.

One of the buildings in which we worked on was the Mittal Centre to support the hospital’s vision of providing modern facilities for all acute in-patients, where a parent or care can stay by their child’s bedside in comfort. In addition to this, the Mittal Centre was designed to provide support for disabled children who are prepared to go home and an array of modern facilities for various departments including medical day care, biomedical engineering and two brand new operating theatres.

The building provided:

  • 116 beds
  • Two integrated operating theatres
  • A post-anaesthesia care unit

In order to build this new Centre, the existing four storeys were demolished and replaced with five new storeys that linked to current facilities. Not only did this expand on the space but it made the hospital more efficient as internal journeys throughout the building could become much shorter.

We won a number of awards for the provision of scaffolding and hoist access to the project inclusive of a gold award for health and safety practise from the project’s main contractor, Skanska. Additionally, we received awards for outstanding health and safety conduct and compliance throughout the project.
