The Royal Arsenal, southeast London, has a history dating back to 1671, with the former munitions factory now transformed to provide a blend of converted & new build residential properties.

The riverside development spans 88 acres with over 3,000 homes built to date, with extensive leisure and community facilities plus over 1km of river frontage.

Brogan Group provided access solutions for two new 17 and 21-storey residential towers containing 271 apartments.

Installation

Brogan engaged early with the Contractor to overcome several technical challenges to install Hoists on the two residential towers.

Brogan Hoists were combined to fit on one elevation of each tower, allowing Façade works to progress on the other elevations, with a large Mammoth 5x3m Goods Hoist on a twin mast, sharing a mast with a smaller single mast 5x1.5m goods/passenger Hoist.

Casting brackets were supplied and installed by the main Contractor for the pour-in phase, which enabled a quicker and optimally secure installation for when the Brogan team came to install the machines on site.

Ground obstructions meant the Hoists had to be offset from the elevation and conventional run-off plates could not be installed. Brogan Group fabricated special brackets with steel plates to cover the gap between the slab and the Hoist.

In addition, special headerless gates with a safety central locking mechanism were fabricated, allowing easier movement of the largest items in and out of the Mammoth Hoist.
