Grand Canal Harbour is a substantial mixed-use development site located next to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin 8, the original terminus of the Grand Canal, an early 19th century canal linking Dublin with the River Shannon.

596 apartments have been built across 6 blocks ranging in height from 6m to 12 storeys (43m) on a 76,000sq ft (7,000sq m) site that will also contain retail, medical, co-working and childcare facilities.

Installation

Brogan Group provided combined access solutions of Scaffolding, Hoists and Mast Climbers across the 6 blocks on site.

Having the complete access package under one supplier meant the Main Contractor Walls had one point of contact, and the Brogan Group design and site team worked closely on the extensive works.

5 blocks, ranging from 6 to 12 storeys (43 metres) were serviced by Brogan Goods/Passenger Hoists integrated Brogan scaffolding at floor levels.

Hoists were located side by side on one of the blocks to allow ties to be in one line up the building, limiting disruption to the Façade installation.

The sixth block is the existing historic curved harbour warehouse, a protected structure that has been fully restored and refurbished with Brogan Scaffolding on an extension via a glazed atrium.

All Brogan Scaffolding was designed in-house before being sent to the site teams for installation. This included loading bays, birdcage scaffold, scaffold fans and roof scaffold around the cores.

The multistorey internal courtyard is serviced on all sides by Brogan Mast Climbers with Cantilevers, a solution using an estimated 80% fewer ties compared to the Scaffolding alternative.
