Due to our continuous expansion we are currently recruiting a Buyer to work at our Headoffice based in Welwyn Garden City.

Main duties include:

  • Setting up and monitoring all documentation for buying
  • Procurement functions including procuring materials, conducting bids, supplier negotiation and processing orders.
  • Identifying potential new suppliers
  • Monitoring supply chain and upgrading suppliers to preferred status when necessary
  • Ensure savings, rebates and compliance are achieved in line with project strategy
  • Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers
  • Liaising with relevant departments for stock levels and supplies
  • Obtaining quotations from existing approved suppliers
  • Research and develop new product sourcing options as necessary
  • Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications
  • Communicate regularly with management keeping them abreast with products, prices, deliveries
  • Communicating any issues with materials
  • Ensuring parts and materials are meeting deadlines and quality standards
  • General administration duties related to orders, deliveries and payment of supplies


  • Buying / Procurement experience within the construction industry desired but not essential
  • Understanding of building materials, their uses and how they are sold is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Word etc
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize your workload
  • Confident, Self-motivated & Enthusiastic
  • Flexible & adaptable. Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
