Highbury Grove School

Highbury Grove School & Samuel Rhodes Schools form a £38m project under the Building Schools for The Future Programme (BSF) for the London borough of Islington.

The Schools are part of the Transform Islington Initiative to rejuvenate eight schools across Islington over a five year period.

We have provided external and internal scaffolding to main contractor Balfour Beatty, upon completion Highbury Grove School will be co-located with the secondary department of Samuel Rhodes Special Educational Needs School. Although the schools will have their own main buildings for lessons, they will share dining and sports facilities.

The design for the schools employs many carbon saving techniques and has focussed on a wrapping design of nine faculty bases around a new garden space. Samuel Rhodes is due for completion in September 2009 while Highbury Grove will open in January 2010.
