Last week Brogan Groups’ UK Head of Operations and qualified IPAF Instructor visited the Middle East Powered Access team and carried out an intensive IPAF Mastclimber Working Platform (MCWP) Installer training course.

IPAF promotes and regulates the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide. Providing technical advice, employing legislation, safety, and training.

The training involved both theory and practical tests to pass the course, as a result of the training we have 12 new Mastclimber IPAF-approved installers and renewed certifications for 7 existing installers.

Projects our installers have and will be working on include the Dubai 91m Duja Tower and double-stacked machines at Waves Grande, as well as the Silo works at Zayed Port Abu Dhabi.

The course touched on but was not limited to the following.

  • Safely operating and installing various types of MCWP
  • The assembly of the platform and controlling safety devices
  • Installation of mast and ties
  • Movement of the machines
  • Local knowledge of regulations relating to the supply and use of MCWPs
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Capability of final assembly visual and functional checks
