Brogan has been awarded the access package for the world's largest Desalination Plant in Abu Dhabi.

The $ 891.0 million project involves the construction of an Independent Water Plant, which will be situated north of Abu Dhabi. The IWP will include the construction of two water desalination plants with a total production capacity of 909,000 cubic meters per day (200 million gallons per day (MIGD)) of water, making it the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant in the world.

The scope of the project includes the collection of seawater, pumping and pre-treatment capabilities, as well as a reverse osmosis system with energy recovery, and post-treatment. A pumping station will also feature, alongside water storage, effluent treatment facilities, and the associated electrical installations required for the construction of a 132/34.5 kV electrical substation.

Brogan's scope is the design and installation of the access scaffold and slab support for the buildings, holding tanks and MEP installation works for the project.

The works are expected to be completed in Q4 2022.
