Brogan Group support Dublin Simon community this Christmas

We have pledged to help Dublin Simon Community with their efforts this Christmas as we were inspired to help by stories like Michael’s who has experienced homelessness for ten years. Following a family breakdown, he sadly lost his home. Moving from place to place, Michael spent many nights sleeping in the city streets, isolated and alone. Due to donations made to Dublin Simon Community, they were able to reach out to Michael, together with their housing and education services were able to help Michael to rebuild his life and find a safe place to call home.

He said, “I’ve done everything from couch surfing to sleeping in alleyways, the worst kind of nights you can imagine. You’ve nothing to do, you’re literally walking the streets 24/7 with nowhere to go. I could have easily covered about 10 miles a day. It’s so mundane and repetitive.”

He went on to say that “Wintertime is horrible when you’re sleeping on the streets. With the damp weather, the rain and the cold, it was pretty rough”.

Dublin Simon Community work to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. The charity has been in existence since 1968 with aim of providing services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.
