The £311m Pinderfields and Pontefract development is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty and Haden Young and is central to the reconfiguration of health services in Wakefield and surrounding areas.
Brogan will be supplying and erecting mastclimbers to the site in February 2009. The Scanclimber models will provide Prater with access for the cladding work on the façade of the hospital. Each single mast platform is 17m wide and 26m high offering maximum flexibility to each elevation.
The overall development will deliver a new acute inpatient hospital on the existing Pinderfields Hospital site and a new diagnostic and treatment centre in Pontefract.
The Pinderfields site will include 46 departments, over 700 beds of which 50% are single en-suite rooms, 1,839 car park spaces and a stand-alone new build pathology building. The Pontefract site will house 33 departments, 66 beds and 581 car parking spaces.
Construction for this project started in April 2007 and is scheduled for completion in 2010, although some facilities will be opened in advance of these dates.
