Woolgate Exchange Building

Broughton Moor natural stone was selected for aesthetics and practicality to clad the walls and floors of The Woolgate Exchange building, according to Burlington. The stone was chosen for the walls and floors of the building's redevelopment in 2000 by MEPC, which is the London headquarters for the wholesale and investment bank, Westdeutsche Landesbank.

The scope of the works included providing the fitting out of the shell and core of 350,000 ft² over 9 stories for main contractor Balfour Beatty. Within these floors three trading floors, general office, auditorium, conference suite, restaurant and a gym were incorporated.

Our work involved erecting external perimeter independent scaffolds, loading bays and scaffold staircases. A unit beam suspended scaffold was also erected, which stepped along the North elevation terraces with boarded lifts at all levels.

Internal works consisted of erecting independent scaffold to the atrium complete with a HAKI temporary roof above the scaffold. Other work included installing internal lift shaft scaffolds, blockwork scaffold and slab edge handrails.
