South Colonade

The rebuild, designed by Architect Buckley Gray Yeoman, involves the Contractor stripping the building back to its structural frame, extending the frame upwards with three new floors and then rebuilding from the ground up with a whole new façade.

Three new floors will be added to the existing 11-storey building with a number of Brogan Passenger/Goods Hoists enabling reconstruction and extension of this office building built in 1991.

The new design will increase the NIA (Net internal area) by 25% through infilling an existing atrium and increasing the building’s massing, as well as open up access to Jubilee Plaza and Canary Wharf Underground Station.

This internal reconfiguration, moving the existing core and adding a new one, will involve Brogan Goods Only Hoists, temporarily installed in the new lift shaft, to transport materials up each level.

Once completed the new façade, fitted on to existing structural grids, will introduce more natural light in the building allowing green terraces to every floor as secondary breakout spaces.

The thermal performance of the new glazing is much higher than the existing marble façade and will contribute to the targeting of environmental standards to achieve BREEAM Outstanding and the WELL Building Standard Platinum.
