Brogan Group has been awarded the Highest Health & Safety Rating for Phase 2a of the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) extension project by main contractor, BAM. 

All contractors at the hospital site were rated on the categories of Risk Assessment & Method Statements, Site Tidiness, PPE, Toolbox Talks (frequency to suit site activities), Safety Adviser Visits, Safety Management Attendance at Safety Review and Committee Meetings, Works Equipment Record and Project Target. Each supply chain partner at the site were then given overall scores based on their scores in each category. Brogan Group achieved the highest score of 80% or ‘High Standard’ for their exemplary health and safety practices demonstrated at this site. 

In addition to this, Brogan Group also received the award of Highest Environmental Compliance score for February at the same site. Again, Brogan Group were scored 80% overall in this category, above 4 other supply chain partners to BAM. Overall scores were calculated as an aggregate of each company’s scores in the categories of Environmental Management Systems, Environmental Advisory Visits, Training, Materials Management and Sustainability. 

Works at the new £300m Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, part of Great Ormond Street Hospital, includes erecting internal block work scaffold to the internal walls and basement levels. The first phase of the development involves the construction of the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building that will feature many energy-saving technologies including combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) units designed to achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions. The intention is to keep the entire hospital fully operational throughout the redevelopment period and completion of all phases is expected by 2016.
