Abford House is starting to make a real impression; we have recently erected a bespoke fully designed heavy duty support platform to carry the steel roof arches which are infilled with glass to form the conical roof structure.
We have erected support scaffolds to the 7th, 8th and Roof levels to the curved bullnose section overlooking Victoria Station. The support platform will support the two end arches at eight locations to enable the arch sections to be bolted and tied together. The sections have a combined weight of approximately 6 tonnes each and at there highest point stand 16m above the 7th floor and cantilever past the slab edge by 2.0m .
Heavy duty soldier props were cantilevered off the main scaffold decks and fixed down to the permanent structure to support the arch points which extended past the building profile.
