Brogan Group were approached by our one of our clients on the Wembley Park Development to assist in installing a decommissioned London cab onto the roof terrace of one of the blocks.

The taxi was positioned on level 16 roof area to be used by the residents of the block as a working coffee shop. The colourful cab, which is exchanging fares and tips for foam and sips will also be used for the initial topping out ceremony on site.

Brogan Group designed, supplied and erected a series of heavy-duty landing platforms with ramped access platforms to enable the 2000kg taxi to be craned into position and to support it as it was carefully moved onto the flush scaffold deck.

The cab was then manually rolled along the scaffold decks and down the ramps to its final position within the building where it will remain as a fully functioning barista station. Brogan’s Site Manager on the project, Eimantas Strunkis, oversaw the works of lifting and positioning the vehicle to ensure everything ran smoothly.

We were uplifted by this fun and unusual little project, which whilst seemingly whimsical, required a specialist and coordinated effort to get the artefact safely to its unusual position. Residents can soon enjoy caffeine highs and chai in the sky with great views in the high-rise cab-cafe and we are pleased to have played a part in this bit of technical taxiing.
