Canning Town

100m high ‘Mammoth’ in Canning Town development

Brogan Group have been awarded the combined access package on a £100 million mixed-use development in Canning Town, London.

The project, run by a leading Contractor, will see 355 apartments built across a 33m, 43m, and a 108m tall building.

Brogans’ ‘Mammoth’ Twin Passenger/Goods Hoist will deliver materials for the internal fit-out of the tallest 33 storey building, with a landing bridge installed on an awkward corner angle.

Elsewhere on the smaller 10 and 13 storey blocks combined access solutions of Scaffolding and powered access support a project that is utilising efficient offsite solutions such as unitised cladding, bathroom pods and service risers.

The scale of the site and its location in a highly congested part of East London posed several logistical challenges at the planning stage and Brogan Group coordinated with the Contractor on sequencing for the cladding installation. These included soffit Hoist ties that will be removed and reinstalled to allow façade elements to be installed.

Other elements considered by our expert design team have included implementing an advanced vertical protection screen to provide extra protection for high trafficked areas and positioning of Scaffolding around a 60m-high pylon, which has also required all construction equipment to be earthed on site.

The sustainable nature of the design will reduce the building’s carbon output by 51% once completed in Q4 2024 and will provide 8,000 sq. ft of commercial and retail space including one of the tallest structures in the Canning Town area in the borough of Newham.
