Two New Men’s Teams for Brogan Sponsored RAK Ropairí GAA Club in Dubai

The 2017-2018 Middle East Gaelic football season marks the inaugural season for the men’s RAK Ropairí Gaelic Football Club.  Due to a large influx of teachers, mainly Irish, the club was able to expand and generate not only one but two Men’s teams and an additional Ladies team. We are delighted that our sponsorship played an integral role in this momentous accomplishment for Rak Ropairí and share their high hopes for what will no doubt be a very exciting and eventful season.

The Ropairí made their way to Dubai for the first tournament of the Middle East GAA League season in September. The J1 Men’s team had an impressive performance but were missing a few key figures. They made an incredible effort but fell short in the Cup semi-final against Abu Dhabi.

The Men’s Social Team had a difficult day as they faced some teams that, according to the Club, “should have been in higher divisions”. However, the Men’s Social Team team demonstrated many promising aspects of the game despite it being their first Gaelic Football match ever for almost all of the players. Although the team were expecting more, they are not discontent with this result as it was their first outing as a Men's club.

We’re proud to support the club’s tenacious attitude and ambition - Club secretary, Kylie Mansur commented: “the experience was great and the lads have come back hungry and eager to win in Bahrain in late November”.

The men are managed by former Moville GFC Men’s team coach and Donegal native, Gerard Faulkner, who has a vast wealth of knowledge and experience.  Faulkner is assisted by Mick Gallagher, who is from Derry and manages the Ladies’ teams.  With the energy, dedication and comprehension of the coaches, we are confident we will have a successful season.
