Recently secured Woodlands School is a 1500 pupil secondary specialising in performing arts in Basildon, Essex. Planning permission was passed just before Christmas and we have currently won the access package for scaffolding on site for the refurbishment, which is part of wave 4 of the Essex County Council BSF (Building Schools for the Future) scheme.
The estimated £16m project aims to create a compact new facility with a central dining and performance atrium acting as a dynamic focus to the school, as well as aiming to make the most of a large, park-like site and is orientated to collect students arriving from the north as well as reaching out to the west where a new vehicular entrance to the site is proposed.
Completion of the project is aimed to be early 2014, and we look forward to starting on site in the coming weeks.
