Brogan Group provided scaffolding to assist the vital repair works to Carney’s Community Centre this month, continuing the Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities.

The Battersea Park Centre was inspired by legendary boxer Mick Carney MBE, who made his name by coaching both England and Canadian National boxing teams. After stepping down as head coach, he dedicated his life to teaching men how to exercise self-control, courage and behave with dignity through the medium of boxing, earning himself an MBE.

Carney’s Community Centre aims to continue the work and ethos of Mick, offering mentoring and support to young people, as well as rehabilitating ex-offenders through boxing, training them to become personal trainers and offering counselling.

One of the Centre’s most recent achievements was the Ex-Offender Employment Programme, where they have placed ex-offenders straight into apprenticeships at Hilton Hotel Kitchens, with hopes it will get them back on their feet and into a new career, reducing the likelihood of re-offending.
