Waresley CC, the Cambridgeshire village club who are sponsored by Brogan Group have won a match against a select MCC 11 on the 27th June.

Marlyebone cricket club, founded in 1787, is intimately associated with the foundation of cricket and today has 18,000 full and 5,000 associate members who own Lords Cricket ground and all of MCC’s assets (the most famous of which is the Ashes Urn).

Waresley CC, established for 150 years, nearby to Brogan Groups main UK depot in Gamlingay, hit a total of 145 for 5, beating the MCC total of 144 all out.

Some 2,000 people represent MCC on the field of play each year including some of the team facing Waresley CC on Sunday. Others were on trial looking to gain entry to this most prestigious of Cricket Clubs.

Ross Clarke from the MCC hit 100 from 130 balls and J Tetley, from Waresley, hit a marvellous 70 from 63 balls at the exhibition match, putting himself in contention for the 1st XL batting award Brogan are sponsoring for the end of season awards.

This sponsorship is part of the community initiatives that Brogan Group provide around our main depot supporting range of sporting clubs and charities in the community.
