A temporary roof has been erected over the main atrium of the building, with the existing glass roof being supported from above using a structural steel frame.
This frame has a box section allowing us to construct the temporary roof that has been rolled into position along this beam.
It is erected at one end from a fully boarded birdcage and as each section is completed it is rolled into position. This ensures scaffolding operatives are working from a safe platform at all times.
When all sections have been rolled out the roof will be tied down to the permanent structure. The sheeting is passed through a profiled track set on top of the roof beams and pulled across the structure so that all works are then carried out from the existing permanent flat roof.
