As part of our continual commitment to expanding into new areas of the access market we have recently registered to FPAL (First Point Assessment).
FPAL is the oil and gas industry’s supply chain database in the UK and Netherlands, the scheme is operated by Achilles and was established by an industry-based steering committee in 1996.
The scheme provides a key tool for purchasers in the oil and gas sector and is used to select suppliers, and works to identify, qualify, evaluate and monitor suppliers on behalf of its purchasing members.
The process replaces approved vendor lists and eliminates costly duplication in pre-qualifying suppliers. It allows current and prospective suppliers to the UK, Dutch and Irish Oil and Gas Industry to register online and describe their full range of products or services. Supplier profiles are then made available on-line to over 80 purchasing members who interrogate the list of suppliers in order to produce a short list, in accordance with the EU Utilities Procurement Directives.
Our next step in this process will be to have a Verify Supplier Assessment visit where Health & Safety, Environment and Competence & Training practices will be assessed. For the Health & Safety and the Environmental practices this is in alignment with oil and gas industry's OGP & NORSOK standards.
