Yesterday was the official launch of the first-ever state-recognised Irish National Scaffolding Apprenticeship at Mount Lucas, County Offaly.

Chris Wilson a young starter at Brogan Group was in the first batch of apprentices to the scheme last year alongside our Foreman Martin Hickey, who has taken on a Mentoring role within Brogan Group for our Apprentices.

The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, opened the event, introducing the 2-year QQI validated Apprenticeship scheme set up to provide robust training in specific knowledge, skills and competence and build on the current Basic and Advanced courses.

The scheme was developed by an Industry led Consortium; the National Association of Scaffolding and Access Contractors (NASAC), with the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) as the lead and has sought input from the whole Scaffolding sector throughout the process.
