Brogan Group Ireland have been leading a series of health and safety talks and demonstrations across multiple sites in support of the Construction Industry Federation’s (CIF) annual Construction Safety Campaign which ran from October 13th – 24th.
The theme for this year’s nationwide campaign, ‘Back to Basics’, reinforces core safety principles across the construction industry – focusing on leadership, critical risk management, and ensuring everyone goes home safely.
To demonstrate the importance of wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Brogan Group’s Irish SHEQ Advisor, Steven McCaul, delivered a series of Safe Working at Height talks and ‘Stop the Drop’ demonstrations across several sites throughout the week.
The exercise involved dropping various items through a pipe onto melons and pumpkins — both with and without protective hard hats — powerfully illustrating the life-saving difference proper PPE can make.
At one of our sites, a defective scaffolding tower was also set up for site operatives to take part in a ‘Spot the Faults’ activity, within a full exclusion zone, encouraging engagement and awareness of common site hazards.
Following one of the sessions, the SHEQ Advisor from the main contractor praised Steven’s presentation, commenting:
“Thanks to Brogan Group for their support of Safety Week and continued commitment to Safety Awareness. It’s very much appreciated.”
Brogan Group Ireland have supported the CIF’s annual safety initiative since 2019, carrying out safety talks and demonstrations in collaboration with our clients on site every year. As scaffolders, sharing our knowledge and expertise on safe practices for working at height is imperative to us and we strive to do our part to make construction sites and the industry as a whole, a safer place to work.
