Brogan Group Staff donate to local Food Banks

Staff at Brogan Group have been collecting food in the UK and Ireland throughout December to donate to local food drives to help make a difference to people’s lives this Christmas.

Staff at head office in Hertfordshire collected food and non-perishable items to give to the Hertford District Food Bank, who are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust. The trust works to combat poverty and hunger across the UK by providing nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are in crisis.

In Ireland, food collection boxes were placed on all Brogan Group sites to encourage site staff to donate food items to be donated to the Dublin Simon Community. There were lots of donations and the drive helped to collect a mixture of luxury and essential items to help local people who are homeless of at risk of homelessness this Christmas.

The Dublin Simon Community provide services to over 7,600 people and families each year across Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. Not only do they provide food and essentials for the homeless, but they also aim to ‘Empower people to access and retain a home by providing housing, prevention, addiction treatment, emergency response and other targeted interventions, through advocacy and partnership.’ (www.dubsimon.ie/)

Louisa MacKenzie from the Dublin Simon Community said ‘We would like to say a massive thank you to your teams…The donation from Brogan Group was first sanitised and once safe, split up and sent straight to our services. There is no time to waste at this time of year because the type of products they donated were really needed. We also simply need to keep things moving through the warehouse as Christmas is a busy time.

Things like biscuits, crisps, tea and toiletries may seem like basic items to most people, but to our clients and residents these are both essential and luxury items which will help to brighten up their day. Your gesture, however small you may think it is, is making a big impact in our communities already.’
