Scaffolder Training Route

Due to the high risk involved and level of skill required, scaffolding operatives require comprehensive training as they progress through each level of competency and experience. There is a prescribed route of training in order to qualify as a scaffolder.

Scaffolder Training

Formal routes of training within the industry are dictated by the Construction Industry Records Scheme (CISRS) which has been in place for over 30 years and is one of the oldest trade card schemes in existence.

In 1996, Vocational Qualifications (VQ) were introduced for the construction industry and CISRS had an active role in helping to develop the content for the Access and Rigging Operations qualification - the required vocational qualification for scaffolders.

Scaffolding operatives are required to complete both the practical training (CISRS) and the VQ Assessments before being issued with a CISRS card at each stage of training.
