The project is part of the continuing upgrade for Ireland's road infrastructure, the N25 bypass of Wateford City.

The project includes a cable stay bridge (approximately 475m) crossing over the River Suire in the vicintiy of Grannagh, close to the location of the existing N24/N9 junction to the north-west of Waterford city. The construction comprises of 23km of dual carriageway and 14km of single carriageway.

The bypass starts in the vicinity of Kilmeaden to the west of the city, crosses the River Suir at Grannah and ties in with the existing N25 to the east of Sileverue Village. The bypass incorporates the new connection, known as the western Link, which joins the bypass to the industrial areas south-west of the city and connects the N9 and N24 to the Grannagh interchange.

Our remit included erecting independent support scaffolding to the bridges and piers aswell as the main bridge for welding work by Fairfield Mabey.

The cable-stayed bridge across the River Suir is expected to open in 2009 and will be operated as a toll road. This will involve a full range of payment schemes including toll plaza’s and electronic tag methods.
