The project entails the construction of an office building known as One Lothbury and
referred to as The Bank Buildings; the work includes the reconstruction of the former Bank
of England owned building, incorporating a design produced by architect Fletcher
Priest.
The development involves constructing a new building behind the existing Portland stone
facade, which is being dismantled and reassembled. The stone
façades are surmounted by a glazed top floor addition, with panoramic views over the City.
The new 117,500 sq ft office has been designed to the highest specification to accommodate
the capabilities demanded by todays City occupiers and is being completed in
phases.
In the initial phases of the project we erected independent scaffold from a heavy duty
pavement gantry on the front elevation to the retained facade. The steel frame and floors were
then re-built with internal lift shafts erected from lift shaft risers, staircores and
leading edge handrails was also erected.
Other work includes erecting a heavy duty hoist loading platform tower along with a goods
and passenger hoist to the courtyard.
The development is due to be completed to a category A specification by August 2009.
