Brogan to provide access for construction of first Parent Promoters School in UK

Aug-2008

Brogan Group have been awarded Access package for Elmgreen School project with Carillion.

Elmgreen is a secondary school based in the heart of Lambeth. Construction of the school will take place over an estimated period of 16 months with the overall project value estimated at approximately £23m.

The new school will provide 900 places for pupils in year 7 to 11 (including a 30 place Hearing Impairment Unit), and a 200 place sixth form unit. Elmgreen is due to be completed in July 2009 in time for the new school year beginning September 2009.

The innovative design has been developed with the library at the heart of the school. This overlooks a large central marketplace surrounded by the main hall, activities studio and restaurant. In addition to the various multi use games pitches there will be an external amphitheatre, environmental science gardens and hard and soft social spaces.

The co-educational secondary school has been open since 2007 with temporary premises at a Victorian built school at Gipsy Road , West Norwood. The school is situated here while it awaits completion of the new school at Elmcourt Road, Lambeth. The new school is funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Building Schools for the Future Money and is being set up by the Parent Promoters Foundation and Lambeth Local Authority under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
