Paddington Crossrail

The Crossrail project at London’s Paddington Station, is one of eight central London Crossrail stations.

The construction of Crossrail at the existing Grade I listed station will involve reconfiguring the station whilst preserving the Edwardian features of the main line station. Crossrail will be integrated with the existing network that currently serves four London Underground lines.

Dec. 20, 2011 - Crossrail C272 Paddington Project Progresses

Pictured above and below are some of the latest images of our works at Paddington Crossrail.

Situated close to the London underground and network rail properties the site has proposed several design and logistical challenges.

Our most recent remit included providing access out of hours for the demolition and rebuild of a new steel lift shaft.  Access has also been provided for a new steel taxi ramp at the end of Bishops Bridge Road following the removal of a crash protection parapet.  Cantilevered heavy duty beams were erected to enable the parapet and existing slab to be demolished.

In addition to this heavy duty cantilevered and bridged scaffold support towers have been erected at various positions for new steel work structures at pavement level and a 40m long hoarding was erected at platform 12 which was specially designed for crowd loading.

June 2, 2011 - Works Underway at Paddington Crossrail

Having recently been awarded the scaffolding contract for the integration of the Crossrail project at London’s Paddington Station project earlier this year, our works are now under way on site. Work has been carried out at night so as not to disrupt normal service.

Our early works also include a series of scaffold towers, pictured above, in addition to a 30m walkway and cuplok staircase for access to new cabins on site. We also have erected a floor to ceiling monoflex protection screen, which reaches just over 100m in length.

Due to the nature of our works on this particular site, all our operatives have undergone compulsory Safety and Asbestos Awareness and Personal Track Safety Courses provided by London Underground Limited.

Work is progressing well on site and we look forward to the work ahead.

April 19, 2011 - Team Established at Paddington

In the last month, our scaffolders have been based at Paddington station undergoing initial works for the integration of Crossrail at the central London station.

As demolition works are being carried out in close proximity to an existing railway platform, a floor to ceiling protective screen has been installed on the platform. Beyond the platform and the screen, a series of scaffold towers have been erected for columns, pictured above.

Crossrail at Paddington will supplement the existing railway network, parts of which will remain operational, while works are ongoing.

As a result of our presence on the London Underground network, a number of our scaffolders have attended compulsory Safety and Asbestos Awareness and Personal Track Safety Courses, provided by London Underground Limited.

April 5, 2011 - Paddington Crossrail Works Secured

We will be undertaking the scaffolding requirements for works to the Crossrail project at London’s Paddington Station, one of eight central London Crossrail stations.

The construction of Crossrail at the existing Grade I listed station will involve reconfiguring the station whilst preserving the Edwardian features of the main line station. Crossrail will be integrated with the existing network that currently serves four London Underground lines.

In recent weeks, some of our site operatives have been based on site carrying out preliminary works for the main contractor, with the main works due to start imminently.
